Alderley Edge Hotel
Getting Ready in Sale, Cheshire
The day started at Liz’s parents home where the morning preparation was underway with the make up artist busy at work and everybody else buzzing around, opening bottles of bubbly and having a fun and rather relaxed time. Despite it being Liz’s big day, she appeared very chilled as her family chatted away. Her dress was laid out in another room looking absolutely gorgeous. This part of the day makes a great beginning to the story of their wedding day and is also a great way for everyone to get used to my presence.
St. John’s Church, Prestbury
Before Liz had a dress on, I dashed off to the church in Prestbury village, Cheshire to meet Demetri together with his bestwoman and usher. Demetri looked particularly dapper in his kilt, as did the usher Joe in his Royal Navy uniform together with Emma in her dress. Fortunately, I had a good ten minutes taking their pictures before the guests started arriving at which point my camera towards the path to capture them walking towards us. Only minutes later, the car arrived with Liz. and her bridesmaid Vicky who both looked amazing. Liz not surprisingly looked a little nervous but nevertheless had a lovely smile.
The vicar walked with them towards the church where they waited a moment, checked themselves and then entered the church where Demetri was looking attentively towards her. It is a beautiful, old church full of charachter which added to the ambiance and mood of the service. Communion was given during the ceremony together with some moving hymns sang by the choir. One, ‘Make me a Channel of your Peace’ always seems to bring a tear to my eyes and hopefully to some of the congregation too!
Following on from the service and the signing of the registry, Liz and Demetri walked back down the aisle full of smiles to be greeted by lovely sunshine outside. After a short while mingling with guests Liz and Demetri had some group photographs. Shortly after this, we made our way to Alderley Edge Hotel for the wedding breakfast.
Alderley Edge Hotel
At Alderley Edge Hotel, the weather could not have been better as everyone had their drinks reception outside in the beautiful gardens. During this time, I went up to the third floor of the hotel and organised group shot from above. Soon after, guests were whisked in for their wedding breakfast. I was kindly given a vegetarian meal which was extremely impressive, as usual the Hotel had lived up to its reputation of excellent food.
After the speeches, the guests divided off in to different areas of the hotel, so I made the most of this opportunity for portraits of Liz and Demitri. I concentrated on more artistic photos of the two of them followed by photos of them with their bridal party.
They were a truly lovely couple as were all their family and friends. Here are a few of their photos from their magical day.
Congratulations Liz and Demetri, you were both lovely to work with and it was a fantastic wedding to photograph !
